End-User License Agreement
Last updated: August 2026
This End-User License Agreement ("Agreement") is a legal agreement between you and Adjective LLC ("we", "us") covering the Inksign desktop application and its bundled components (the "Software"). By downloading, installing, or using the Software, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Software. This same Agreement accompanies every download.
The Inksign source code is proprietary and governed separately; this Agreement grants no rights to the source, only to your use of the distributed application builds.
In plain terms
- Inksign is free to install and use, on any device you own or control.
- Please don't resell it, redistribute it, or reverse-engineer it.
- Your keys and documents stay on your machine — we never see them, and we can't recover a lost key.
- It's provided as-is, with no warranty, and we can't promise a signature is legally binding where you live.
The full terms below are what govern; this box is just a summary.
1. License grant
We grant you a personal, worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable, royalty-free license to install and use the Software on devices you own or control, for your own personal or internal business purposes. The Software is provided free of charge.
2. What you may not do
Except where a right cannot be restricted by applicable law, you may not:
- sell, rent, lease, sublicense, or redistribute the Software;
- modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works of the Software;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software, or attempt to derive its source code;
- remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices; or
- use the Software in violation of applicable law.
Third-party open-source components bundled with the Software remain under their own licenses, which continue to govern those components and which this Agreement does not restrict.
3. Your keys and your documents
The Software is local-first. Your private keys and the documents you sign stay on your machine; the Software transmits no telemetry and uploads nothing to us. You are solely responsible for safeguarding your private keys and signing certificates. We cannot recover a lost key and have no access to your key material.
4. Signatures and legal validity
The Software produces standards-based PAdES digital signatures. Whether any particular signature is legally binding or admissible depends on factors outside our control — chiefly the certificate you sign with and the law of the relevant jurisdiction (for example, eIDAS in the EU or ESIGN/UETA in the US).
We do not certify, guarantee, or warrant the legal enforceability of any signature produced with the Software, and nothing in this Agreement is legal advice. For requirements specific to your situation, consult a qualified professional.
5. No warranty
The Software is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. You are responsible for verifying that signed documents meet your needs before relying on them.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Adjective LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of or inability to use the Software.
7. Termination
This license ends automatically if you breach it. On termination you must stop using the Software and remove all copies. Sections 3 through 6 survive termination.
